We will have an early morning departure for Carcassonne, the UNESCO World Heritage site comprising the upper walled “La Cite” and the lower Bastide, birthplace of Father Medaille. We will have a light lunch on arrival before discovering Fr. Medaille’s home, including the place of his baptism, the Cathedral of St. Michael’s and the Jesuit School his father was involved in founding. Later in the day, we will explore the ancient walled fortress city itself.
Yesterday you participated in the procession at Lourdes and today you visited the birthplace of Father Médaille. You are discovering what it means to be a pilgrim. How are you experiencing pilgrimage travel as different from travel as a tourist?
Having heard a bit about Father Médaille and seeing where he was raised as a child, step back and think about this for a moment. This one seemingly hidden man helped to birth into being a congregation that has spread throughout the world. He had no idea this is the impact he would have with his life. Now think about your own life and your leadership within Providence St. Joseph. What is one hope or desire you have for the people you lead? Don’t shy away from dreaming big! Let your imagination run wild and ponder what and who you are called to be within Providence St. Joseph.
If you are not directly a part of Providence St. Joseph, what is one hope or desire you have for your presence in the lives of others? What impact do you hope you are having on the ones you love?
The first pilgrim listed in each group is the group facilitator for the evening.
